How We Got Started

The story of Dayton Builders Group begins with Sam, who was drawn to construction at a young age. At just 13, he began helping his grandfather, who owned an excavation company, while also assisting other family members working in the trades. Growing up surrounded by craftspeople, Sam developed a deep passion for construction and gained broad experience that laid the foundation for his career. He later led a roofing crew and continued building expertise across a wide range of construction disciplines.

In 2014, Sam and his wife, Sarah, partnered with a friend to start a lawn care business, and R&D Lawn Service was born. As clients began requesting help with home repairs and small renovations, Sam’s construction background made it easy for the company to step in and deliver quality results. The business quickly grew and became R&D Property Services, with an increasing focus on home remodeling rather than yard maintenance.

Sam and Sarah eventually made the leap into full-time self-employment, building their business around integrity, communication, and the belief that quality should always come first. Their work grew to include fire restoration, full-home remodeling, and increasingly complex residential projects. Along the way, they earned a loyal client base one project at a time.

As the company’s capabilities and reputation continued to grow, Sam and Sarah rebranded the business as Dayton Builders Group, a name that proudly reflects their local roots and the company they had worked together to build.

Today, Dayton Builders Group remains guided by the motto, “Building the Future. Restoring the Past.” Sam and Sarah bring a deep respect for craftsmanship, history, and the homes entrusted to their care.
