About Us
How We Got Started
Our story starts with Sam, who was drawn to construction at a very young age. At just 13, he began helping his grandfather, who owned an excavation company, as well as assisting other family members working in the trades. Growing up surrounded by skilled craftsmanship, Sam developed a deep passion and broad experience in construction that laid the foundation for his career. He went on to lead a roofing crew early on and gained expertise across a wide range of construction disciplines.
In 2014, Sam and his wife Sarah partnered with a friend to start a lawn care business, and R&D Lawn Service was born. As clients began requesting help with home repairs and small renovations, Sam’s background made it easy to step in and deliver quality results. The company quickly grew and shifted into R&D Property Services, focusing more on home remodeling than yard maintenance.
Eventually, Sam and Sarah made the leap into full-time self-employment, building a business based on integrity, communication, and the belief that quality always comes first. From fire restorations to full-home remodels, they built a loyal client base one project at a time. To reflect their expanding capabilities and professional vision, they rebranded as Dayton Builders Group—a name that proudly honors their local roots and growing reputation.
Guided by our motto, “Building the Future and Restoring the Past,” we bring a deep respect for craftsmanship and history to every project. Whether adding modern living space or restoring classic charm, we deliver results that stand the test of time.
Today, Dayton Builders Group offers a full range of residential remodeling services including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, in-law suites, decks, patios, fencing, roofing, siding, custom tile work, flooring, home and garage additions, and even specialty spaces like home theaters and recording studios.
